The Relentless Flow of All Things

Sjur Eide Aas Brazil, Norway HD video / 16:9 / Black and White 13 min (loop)

A sloth is on its weekly journey from the treetops down to the ground. A bug is crossing the road, oblivious to the people driving on it. A butterfly interrupted while resting on a leaf. In the video, The Relentless Flow of All Things, Eide Aas brings out the poetic qualities from everyday observations, events, and phenomena, conveying a curiosity about physical laws, and how everything is connected. The film is shot in Rio de Janeiro, early 2020, before the pandemic reached a global scale. The video is accompanied by a peculiar soundtrack, a one-take piano recording by the artist, creating a strange and surreal mood. It also refers to the time before movies had sound and a pianist played to the moving image.
