Mutant Life is an insight into Tokyo Twins’ fantasy world, where parallel historical dimensions collide with imagined possible futures. The work looks at how a virus, a disease, or an infection transforms, mutates and disrupts the continuation and reliability of life as we know it. The diseased body becomes a transformative vessel for challenging structures of societies, morality and normativity.
Tokyo Twins is collaboration between the artists and musicians Anne Ødegård and Simon Daniel Tegnander Wenzel. Their works reflect emotional states, explore relationships between reality and fantasy, the human condition and fictional identities. They play with elements from european electronic music history, digital and visual culture as well as natural materials and pre-industrial crafts in a multidisciplinary practice.
Tokyo Twins have performed and exhibited at Sørlandets Kunstmuseum, Arendal Kunstforening, Emmanuel Vigelands Mausoleum, Insomnia Festival, Villa P641 in Prague, Arctic Moving Image Festival, Landmark in Bergen and Black Box Theatre in Oslo.
