Tone Bjordam "Moving Matter"

The video "Moving Matter" invites you into a painterly and abstract landscape with floating fragments of rocks and minerals, and crystals of different shapes and structures unfolding and growing. The title "Moving Matter" refers to science and physics, but it can also be understood as something that can be emotionally moving, by virtue of fascination and beauty. The video is about the wonder that drives science, and hidden wonders that happen in small and large scale around us all the time, often invisible for the human eye.

The drive behind Tone Bjordam’s artistic practice is to create a space for reflection around processes in nature and to achieve an in-depth understanding and a sense of feeling connected with nature around us. Her art ranges from abstract to more naturalistic work, where she explores her surroundings, often at macro or micro levels. She works with video, photography, animation film, painting, drawing, performance and sculpture installations.

Music for "Moving Matter" is composed and played by a mathematical biologist, ecologist and musician Marten Scheffer.

I videoen "Moving Matter" blir du invitert inn i et malerisk og abstrakt landskap med flytende fragmenter av stein og mineraler, og med krystaller som gror og utvikler seg i forskjellige former og strukturer. Tittelen "Moving Matter" refererer til vitenskap og fysikk, men kan også forstås som noe som kan bevege deg følelsesmessig, i kraft av å være fascinerende og vakkert. Videoen handler om ”the wonder that drives science”, de skjulte undre i naturen, som i stor og liten skala foregår rundt oss hele tiden, men som ofte er skjult for det menneskelige øye.

Drivkraften bak Tone Bjordam’s kunstnerskap er å skape et rom for refleksjon rundt prosesser i naturen, og å nå fram til en dyptliggende forståelse og følelse av samhørighet med naturen rundt oss. Arbeidene spenner fra helt abstrakte til mer naturalistiske formspråk, hvor hun utforsker omgivelsene, ofte på makro eller mikro-nivå. Hun jobber med video, fotografi, animasjonsfilm, maleri, tegning, performance og skulpturinstallasjoner.

Musikken til "Moving Matter" er komponert og spilt av musiker og professor i matematisk biologi og økologi, Marten Scheffer.
